what type of security system you guys have?

last night, someone broke into my girl friends car and took her nav system and rip out the in car dvd system. the car was inside a garage(gated) but didnt mean shit.. I got my 749s stolen last year around this time and ever since I always chain my bike to a column, put a wheel lock w alarm and have low jack installed. I feel like if it wasn't chained up they might have try to take the bike too. (it was sitting right next to her car) pretty shitty feeling if you ask me.. dont care so much of what got stolen(it is still upsetting) but just the fact that knowing someone is watching just drives me insane.... i feel like maybe what I have is not enough, then it got me thinking... wonder what others do to secure their bikes.... so yeah... what do you guys do to protect ur SF's?

I live in a nice quiet suburb, with lots of good neighbours and a non-existent crime rate.....

The fact that you live in Venice is your biggest problem. I'd suggest you get a Kryptonite New York chain and lock. I have one, and it's really impressive.

Security system...

Well this and a Kryptonite lock plus a 6 camera DVR.

P.S. But seriously, sorry to hear about your theft. Some people have no respect.

Hmm. Guns and surveillance.....I can see how that would work (if you spent every waking - and sleeping - hour glued to a TV monitor....)

Have an old ugly bike no one wants (my solution back in college), or just make sure your insurance will cover everything.

Short of locking it up to something in the ground a bike is so easy to steal that its just not worth most of the stuff they sell.

Theres not alot of space to hide the lojack/GPS unit so its easy to find and rip out, two guys can easily pick one up and throw it the back of a van or truck and most of the time the wiring is so simple that its a joke to start one without the key.

Alarms almost never work unless you personally are within ear shot as everyone ignores them. Even the cops.
