Tech guys please help. Fuel drip problem

All,

I filled up my bike last Thursday just a few miles from my home. Rode there and parked the bike on the side stand. Left out of town until Sunday night. When I woke up Monday morning and entered the garage I was hit with a overwhelming gas smell.

Upon looking at the bike I noticed a small amount of gas under the clutch basket directly coming from the overflow hose. I removed some gas out of the tank and moved the bike. It was still dripping. Decided that I was having a tank issue and called the dealer (100 miles away.)

This morning the drip has stopped completely. Is it possible that I overfilled the bike and just removing gas from the tank was not enough? Maybe some still left in the overflow tank and hose?

Expand the mind. Not a fuel tank

If you filled up the bike while upright, then went to park it on the sidestand, then it can be from the overflow. It can also be a cracked tank. We have seen both. Do you still have your evap canister? I would check to make sure it is not full of fuel too.

That particular drain hose is the one that's supposed to drain any overflow from spilled fuel or rainwater that accumulates in the cap recess. The other hose is the tank vent, and connects to the evap canister on the left side of the engine.

If you're seeing fuel come out, you may have spilled fuel into the recess. What I'd do is to remove the gas cap by taking out the 4 allen screws visible when the cap is open. Once you remove the cap, you'll see a hole in the tank on the right side. This connects directly to the drain hose. Wipe out any fuel you may have found and then blow out the hose to remove any fuel in it. If it continues dripping after that, you have a problem inside the tank, most likely with the internal hose that connects the drain hole to the outlet fitting at the right rear underside of the tank.

I'm having the same problem. I took mine to the dealer and they checked it out.
They didn't really have an answer for me on why. About 2 months later the bike leaked again. The bike still leaks from time to time, when its hot.

Any help is welcomed.

I make sure not to over fill fuel too, so I'm sure its not that.

Part of the tank swelling issue. It is being replaced by the dealer.
