weird brake warranty question
ok so i have a 2010 with 6K miles on it. I have been having this problem with my front brakes since i bought the bike but the prob is i live a million miles away from the closest Ducati dealer. i have been to the dealer before to get an oil change done but that dealer i was not a huge fan of, and in the end didn't look at any warranty questions i had with the bike. The problem i am having with the brakes is whenever i decelerate hard it feels like my brakes are pulsating. From what i thought and what the dealer says we think its a warped rotor, or 2. Now my dealer is telling me that this problem is not covered under warranty and i will have to buy the rotors myself. Has anybody else had this problem and anybody have any suggestion on what i should do. The bike is still covered under factory warranty of 2 years unlimited miles.

i cant speak on your particular scenario, but i had an issue where the rear piston torqued to the side a little and stuck, boiling the fluid, seals, brake line, heated the rotor, and made the pads and pistons so hot, that i could order new pads from the part number burnt into the outer lip of the piston. It was all covered under warranty with no issues. They warrantied the rotor, caliper, brake line and rear master cylinder. I cant imagine why you would get much grief on it, unless it is something you caused yourself.
i'll post up some pictures tomorrow when i get to the shop.

Over here in the UK I've seen quite afew brake discs replaced under warranty so I suggest you get on to DNA and make your plight known to them, your dealer seems unconcerned to what really is a safety issue.

That sounds like total bollocks, a few months ago I had one of my disks replace under warranty as the rotor buttons on the said disk where alot looser it actually rattled on idle) than the other & they repalced one under warranty ! PS mines a late Decemeber 2009 new standard model

I have the exact same problem!
Mine recently got a 12.000 km service and I told the mechanic about the problem and he said it was caused by holes in the discs. That sounded to me like BS, since I never had the problem on other bikes with holes in the discs.
I asked the mechanic to check the steering head bearings with a torque wrench during the service. But afterwards I have forgotten to check if it solved the problem and now it has been put away for the winter so I have to wait until spring to check.

Welcome to the warped club! It was not more than a week ago that I made this exact thread. Rotors are not covered under warranty. The only aftermarket rotos on the market currently are Galfer wave rotors that retail for about $600 a set. I just ordered a set from motowheels and I will report back when I install them hopefully sometime next week
