Ducati Performance Rear Sprocket
My mechanic has been reinstalling and installing things around my bike lately.
At some point he had to remove and reinstall the DP rear sprocket that has been on a bike for a while already.
Now while I've been washing the bike I have noticed that Ducati Performance logo on an opposite side (see the photo). I have an impression it was always rotated toward the swingarm side and not facing the exhaust side.
My worry is the mechanics installed it a wrong way - what supposed to be a front became a rear and vise versa. He already messed up one sprocket in past when I asked to install AEM quick change sprocket. After such a brutally stupid installation the sprocket didn't even last for 400 miles: it lost 6 teeth and the rest of the teeth were thinned dramatically.

Hi Sputniks,
Please don't let your "mechanic" service your brakes any time soon!

well, he did a shitty job on the lock-wire.
I am not sure if the sprocket is unidirectional, but I would think the ducati performance writing would be on the outside...

That's why you should do the work yourself! Now you just forfeited your right to complain!

Poor safety wire job. Sprocket would seem to be mounted with the wrong side out. I don't know if it's asymmetrical or not, or whether it makes a difference. Doesn't look right, though. I would not be happy if I were you.

I looked at mine... The SF has on the stock unit the raised area on the outside. On the Monster and Hyper it is raised on the inside.
I'm not sure if flipping it causes any miss alignment with the chain. You may want to look at that. It still looks like your cush drive is fully seated, but is there a clearance issue having the raised portion on the inside of the swing arm? Hmmm. Maybe all to do about nothing.. It is good you noticed though.

There is and yes it's pretty easy to do and worth doing IMO.
Stock chain doesn't have to be resized or removed for the swap which makes it easy.

Sputs, any update with the sprocket mounting? In looking at the stock unit mounted on mine and looking at the Service Manual, I think you should get that checked right away. The sprocket does appear to be asymmetrical and your's appears to be mounted wrong side out which would cause a chain alignment problem at the very least. In the Service Manual and on my bike the built-up flange areas for each of the cush drive bushings is facing out with the (mostly) flush side facing in. The DP sprocket on your bike appears to be reversed.
It is completely possible that the DP unit on your bike differs in design and is mounted correctly, but sure doesn't look right.
