Immobilizer removal?
I'm in the process of taking the bike apart. I'm pretty much ready to drop the engine (waiting on a stand to come in) and still have a couple other items remaining on the frame.
One of them being the immobilizer assembly.
I've taken the big plate from underneath the assembly but it just won't bulge!!! I have no idea what's still holding it in place. Mine doesn't quite look like the photo above, I still have a piece of plastic going around the lower part of it.
Looked up in the Ducati manual but couldn't find anything on it besides how to remove the stupid coil which I don't care since I need to remove the entire assembly.
Any ideas? Need to get the frame out to powdercoating so it's gotta come off.

there are some headless bolts in there...you need to get them loose...either use a tool for that or just bolt 2 nuts and use them to get the deadless bolts off...
i am in the process too...can you give me some info on the stand sam???

Ah... gonna give that a shot. I was wondering about this but seemed a bit odd.
I'm waiting for a proper pin for my T-Rex rear stand. Then i'm going to use an old car tire to drop the engine on, hopefully it should provide enough support.

you should not exchange information about this openly on the internet...this is a subject for private messages. No need to instruct future thieves on how to do it.

Seriously?... wow. Sorry go ahead and delete the post, I know what I need to know.
Thieves can kiss my 9mm, come close to my SF and I'll fuck'em up.

Use a stud remover for the headless bolts, using the 2 nuts procedure will only cause to strip the stud then you'll be shoveling sh*t against the tide with a cocktail fork, the studs are made of soft metal like all the other Italian hardware. Better be safe than sorry!

Since there are two of you taking a SF completely apart. What is the reason for doing this? Are you building complete custom bikes? Including changing the color of the frame? Or are these going to be dedicated track bikes? I'm just wondering, and I'm sure so are other people on the forum.

Taking the frame apart for powdercoating since I took a dump last month (broke collarbone in the process).
Frame didn't get damaged besides the steering lock tab and right side foot peg tabs. I've gotta have these tabs welded to be reinforced then off to powdercoating.
Bike's gonna be repainted and "improved" hopefully, if I can get that damn immobilizer off.

Thanks for clarifying that. I hope your all healed up from the fall. Good luck getting the bike apart. I'm sure it's going to look nice when it's finished. What color are you going to powder coat the frame?

larossa is right, but at the garage the mechanic removed my bolts with the "nuts" procedure so i just mentioned that it could be done...he was careful and didnt damage anything...
the stud remover way is the safest way i guess like larossa wrote!!
maxim, you have to remove the tank to get there...and i guess every thief knows how to remove the bolts better than we do...(they dont mind doing damage too so its easy for them!!)
