Idiots are trying to kill me today!
It was a wonderful, beautiful 68 degrees today, sunny and windless. Perfect weather for riding. So I am riding home for a late lunch, and a 18wheeler semi truck merges into my lane on I-70--and I mean he did it quickly...I was halfway up the back oh his trailer, and he came halfway into my lane in seconds. Luckily I had a large shoulder to use and he heard my horn and stopped merging.
So, then only 3 minutes later and a woman blabbing to her passenger turns left directly in front of me, and again, luckily she was at a stop before the turn so she was able to stop when only half way into my lane, and I could sneak around her in the right half of the lane.
I think I should drive back, I don't know if I could handle three close calls in a day--might turn out to be 2 close calls and a fatality.

Some days the force is not with you. I feel like that sometimes and those are the only days I actually feel nervous about riding.

I hear ya James. Try and plan ahead and see if you can try and predict some of this nonsense. Sometimes, I anticipate the worse and when doing so, I already know what to do.
Glad you made out okay tho. Shit.... You'd think they'd hear your bikes rev's and not need the horn!

Well, luckily both times I was driving defensively, and that kept me ok. The second time, if I wasn't paying attention, I would have been over that ladies hood, because I was in the left of the lane, but I saw her start to turn and turned right as I hit the brakes. If she had gone all out, I don't know that it would have mattered (in which case, it would have been better to turn left behind her...like they teach in MSF class--but honestly, I didn't think of that, I just reacted).

You should try commuting through central london, UK. I have learnt to be like water when riding, just going my own pace, flowing through the gaps in the traffic. Moving to another lane/position when a car, bus, van, pedestrian takes up my space. obviously I have my Stebel air horn fitted to remind the really stupid!

London is easy. Relaxed. I enjoy my morning and evening commutes on the monnie or the KTM.
Compared with drivers in towns up norf, London drivers are reasonably aware.
