WTB or Borrow Oil Breather removal / installation tool
Hi,
I have a new Oil Breather I want to install, but it only has the small holes at the base for installation like the OEM one on my bike now.
Does anyone have one of those specialty wrenches for removing the Breather without scratching it? I've called around town and everyone says its a custom tool, I've seen them online in the past, but having a hard time tracking one down.
IF anyone here has one, I'm willing to pay, plus shipping to either buy or borrow it for a day, I just want to get the new one in and send it back, but if I have to buy it so be it.
Thanks

Check the breather again. The inside circumferance of the breathers are actually how you typically pull them. They accept a 12 or 14mm metric hex head. I can't recall which, but it's larger than most standard socket sets include, You can grab them from most auto-parts stores.

@ J.Davis; Can you confirm that it will fit? I contacted Nichols yesterday and they tell me today that it will only fit the breather they make in house.
IF it does fit, I will love to take it off your hands.. is that $15 rental or purchase price?
@SFYAMR1; From what I recall it had a smooth inner circumference, but I will check again.
Thanks to both you guys

What bike requires this? I did my 1098 by hand if your speaking of the one on the back right of the crank case.

It depends on the breather manufacturer. Some have the hex inside and some do not. You can use the pin tool to remove if it doesn't have it.

Its an older 748, the current one looks like its been there since day one, I tried removing by hand, strap wrench, pliers, etc.. its difficult spot to reach into without pulling the frame off.
J.Davis was kind enough to sell me his Nichols brand wrench, when it gets here I'll let you know if it works.
Thanks again J.Davis.

Used the wrench today, fit perfectly on both oem and STM breather.
Thanks J
