Up for sale (or trade) is my beautiful 2001 Ducati 900SS.
PRICE:
Asking $5500 from a board member. I'm over bluebook... but when you see everything included and the condition of this bike, it isn't so far-fetched. Regardless, if you have cash in hand or one of the trades listed below, and you like this bike, let's talk.
TRADES:
Will consider trades for a clean-title Ducati 1000/1100 Multistrada (S-model), Cagiva Gran Canyon, BMW R1100GS / R1150GS / R1200GS, Moto Guzzi Stelvio, Triumph Tiger, or Aprilia Caponord. Value difference would be negotiated with cash.
LOCATION:
In the Columbia River Gorge (Stevenson, WA), about 30 miles east of Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA. Can meet up with potential buyer anywhere between the Portland/Vancouver area and The Dalles, OR/Goldendale, WA.
HISTORY:
Clean title in my possession. I am the third owner. Bought the bike in June of 2007 with 6212 miles on it; currently 15386 (subject to change, still riding). It has been a fair-weather bike (though I have been caught by unexpected light rain a handful of times). Always garaged, plugged in to the battery tender when parked for more than a week. Always warmed up gently. Never raced or abused.
This beautiful motorcycle is my baby and I would be keeping it indefinitely, but life has other plans... I will be moving to a rural area before next year's riding season. As much as I love this bike, I don't want to subject it to 5 miles of gravel road every time I go for a ride. Also got married this year, and my wife loves to ride. It's time for a good 2-up adventure touring bike! This 900SS needs to find a new home with an owner who will take it out for regular romps on curvy asphalt roads.
ABOUT THE BIKE:
This bike has been regularly maintained by me, an Aerospace Engineer. I work on airplanes for a living, so quality workmanship matters to me. The maintenance has been recorded in a binder that comes with the bike. Also including the Ducati factory service manual for the bike. Original owners manual is included as well. I have all receipts for parts, even most gas receipts.
This 900SS is in great cosmetic condition, especially considering its age. The paintwork is unfaded, very rich red... this bike has never been stored out in the elements. It does have a few nicks and scratches, since some blemishes are unavoidable in a 9-year-old bike with 15000+ miles, but the blems are all minor. This Supersport gets lots of compliments, and it's a conversation starter almost everywhere I stop.
Mechanical condition is excellent. Fresh AMSOIL 10W-40 and new K&N oil filter @15386 miles. The one thing of note is that the bike is due for a valve inspection and possible adjustment (NOTE: the timing belts are current, it's just the valves that need checked). This is where my price is flexible. I will have the valve inspection and adjustment done (scheduled for August 18th) and that is included in the $5500 asking price. If you contact me before the 18th and opt to take care of the valves yourself, I will knock $500 off, and you pay $5000.
Other mechanical things of note: Michelin Pilot Powers with ~50-60% tread remaining. Brake pads are still good. The kickstand safety switch was fixed so that it operates like a "normal" motorcycle (you can start it in neutral with the stand down, but pop it into gear before raising the stand and it'll shut off). It was fixed in such a way that the OEM harness was not touched (ask me for details). None of the modifications to the bike are permanent, and it can be taken back to showroom stock simply by unbolting the performance parts and bolting on the stock parts.

THE SALE:
No test rides without cash in my hand.
To avoid problems with fraud, I will not ship the bike, you must purchase/pick-up in person. Cash or a transfer in a bank branch only. If you want to try financing it, we can meet at MotoCorsa in Portland and work with the credit union. Sorry, I can't accept personal checks. My apologies in advance if this is an inconvenience... too many friends who've been scammed.
If interested in the bike, please PM me.
And now on to the pics!
(NOTE: This is the actual bike for sale. The pictures are from different times and places, but it's all the same motorcycle)

Who can resist the adorable baby? That's my niece... we're indoctrinating her early.
Please PM me if you're interested.
Thanks for looking!
