WTB-888SPO, 916SPS, 996s or 748s
I am poking around for a older 4 valve bike to buy. I'd like to find an SPO, SP or SPS but don't want a museum piece, I mean, I'd like that but I can't afford the museum piece and I want to ride it. In the absence of one of these I may be convinced to enjoy a 748s but it would have to be yellow and white, sorry to be picky.
If anyone's on the fence, please keep me in mind.
Thanks,

Great deal for zero miles! Why would it be set up for track though? Or has it just been a track bike already and been used without the gauge?

i like both of these bikes but would prefer something '97 or older, only because I like the look of the larger decals on the fairings.

The SPS in Newport Beach looks interesting but it's not original from looking at the pics

I'm contemplating running the VIN on her to verify previous owner.... and verifying purchase history with DNA ( salesman stated the owner ordered it as-is from a dealer but didnt know of any spares of if the factory included slip-on exhaust/chip combo was fitted
(Little Story) :
After I bought my SPS (and before I got my 998) I came across another SPS which had almost no miles on her and was set up for track. The owner was a contractor here in Socal and told me he bought the bike to ride with his buddies. Long story short.. He hardly rode it... had a minor tip-over and decided to mod her for track opposed to repairing OEM parts- something like that.
He was also friends with the owner of Spectrum Ducati at the time (now defunct).. I drove down to view it and much to the surprize of the sales-weenie, I knew more about the bike and owner than he did. Bike was listed for 20k and didn't sell...
I passed on her 'cuz I was skeptical although the bike looked perfect..
Several months later the owner called me and offered to sell me the bike for 10k before it went up on auction in San Diego (?) sounded weird... I bought my 998 ( with LOTS of mods) instead. ( Sold her when the overtime dried up at work and I miss that Blonde woman something fierce)..
Not long ago, I see this SPS in Newport Beach and it seems to be damn similar.... OR someone also just happened to do the same to their bike and never rode it.... It could happen I suppose
Bear in mind this is from memory but i'm confident my recollection is 99% accurate

The story I was told is it was ordered by an ex racer and he wanted it prepared for track to race the next season before he took ownership he had an on track crash. So the bike was never used as he recovered from injuries. It has set as you see it since that time.
It looks clean and presents just like a brand new bike, but with no odometer, no spares, no prior owner discussions that is really, really hard to verify the mileage/story. Newport can only know what they were told about the bike and its history. It's an expensive track bike now for what is available from Ducati in that price range.
It needs prepped, belts, new tires etc. not to mention if you want to make it a road bike, more cost. It needs lighting, switches, headlights, bodywork and wiring harnesses. If it was never titled do you have to pay the original MSO tax price to get it legal or the asking price? Very conflicting to a potential purchaser but very interesting bike. Newport has the bike presented very nice.
