1998 900 ss fe #259

I have a decided to put my FE up for sale. After buying the 999S this summer, the FE just doesn't get enough exercise.

If you search my posts here, you will find that I was having trouble with overflowing float bowls. The float valve needle turned out to be the culprit. So the bike has:
* New carb seals and float needle valves
* New spark plugs
* New fuel lines (from under the tank to the fuel rail)
* New fuel filter

Earlier in the summer I did some other work:
* Braided brake and clutch lines
* New timing belts
* Valve clearance checked - OK. (The vertical exhaust closer will need a new shim soon. Right on the tolerance edge.)

Other upgrades done previously...
* Penske double clicker shock
* Upgraded battery terminal and ground wires (Powerlet)
* K&N filter and open airbox
* Carbon fiber high mount exhausts (Giaccomo?)

The bike is not a garage queen; I rode like it was meant to be ridden. Didn't thrash it by any means, but the bike is just damn fun to ride.

Also, the previous owner had the battery puke on him and that caused some paint staining and peeling on the left side on the frame and engine case. But the affected area is behind the bodywork and is only visible if you look for it.

The paint on the bodywork is nice and glossy, but has a few scratches and paint chips here and there, nothing terribly obvious. The carbon fiber fenders (front and rear) could use a shot of clear coat. I am the world's worst painter, so haven't attempted to do this.

The bike has some mismatched fasteners that I didn't bother to replace. Several aftermarket options to choose from if you care.

The PO had the engine completely torn down in Aug '09 due to some dodgy main bearings. Main bearings, bushings, rod bolts & bearings were all replaced. Work was done by a local mechanic that I know and have used for my other bikes. This happened at around 10k miles, I estimate. The bike now has just over 13k on the odometer.

Lemans1 is coming to look at the bike this weekend, but thought I'd post this up just in case.

Asking $4250. I have a trailer and can deliver a short distance if necessary, but I would prefer not to deal with shipping. If you want to fly into DTW and ride her home, that's an option for a short while longer.
