Nice job nine16, very clean and classy. Did Artistimo leave his usual ghost pattern of his ass in your paint anywhere??? Look carefully, he's a sneaky bastard! What was the difference made using the corse kit on your damper?

Some details in this link:

Newman Racing Suspension - Motorcycle Supsension Specialists featuring Elka Shocks and Ohlins Shocks

Quote:
Steering Damper Piston Reservoir Kit

Ohlins can now offer an upgrade kit for our popular R&T steering damper.

This kit is being used by all racing teams in Moto GP and WSB. The kit will be a big improvement if the steering damper is used in very warm or hot conditions. Part No. is 02280-01

After ten years, it was time to refresh the damper anyway so I decided to upgrade it. Dampers are one of those things that are hard to quantify--you only notice them if you don't have one, right? I will say that the adjustment range is crazy. You can go from almost nothing to virtually locking down your steering entirely.

No "ghost asses" in the paint--just a great, wet looking finish with no orange peel or blemishes.

Took me a while to track down...took this photo at Indianapolis Moto GP last year (Ohlins booth in Ducati Island). Same piston kit, magnesium body, TiN plated shaft...and entirely unobtainable by the public. As I was fondling it, I wondered if they would really miss it. Is that wrong?

Nothing wrong with wondering, that is pretty crazy how much went into that particular damper in terms of materials etc. I would love to go picking from old race teams parts bins, just grab a shopping cart full of unobtanium...

I was there but missed this how much? Maybe I shouldn't ask...

Unobtainable. As in "no price tag, for GP teams only".
