2011 Ducati 848 EVO Review
Ducati's middleweight superbike gets a significant upgrade for 2011, further separating itself from the confines of established sportbike categories.
It's already 17 years since the first small-bore Ducati 4-valve superbike, the 748, broke cover – the same year as the iconic 916, in 1994. The 748 played a background second fiddle to the beloved 916 series until the 749 emerged in 2003. A close relation to the aesthetically challenged 999, the 749 continued to be a relatively low-cost entre into Ducati's superbike family and competed against the Japanese 600s in supersport competition.
Then MY2008 saw a paradigm shift for the sub-liter Ducati superbikes, with the new 848 getting 15 extra horses and a weight loss of nearly 50 lbs! However, its 101cc displacement bump (to 849cc) made it ineligible for supersport competition, leaving it adrift in a class of its own.
Perhaps that's a good thing. Instead of being considered an expensive alternative to the Japanese four-cylinders, the 848 ruled over them with not only more torque, of course, but also more horsepower. Our '08 test bike cranked out 116 ponies at the rear wheel, which is nearly on par with what a 999 or Honda RC51 could do a few years ago when liter-sized superbikes were the hot ticket.
Well, Ducati has upped the ante again with the 848 EVO, bringing along extra horsepower, improved brakes and fitment of a standard steering damper – all for the same price as last year's 848s.
To demonstrate the EVO's newfound prowess, Ducati invited us to the historic Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in the town of Imola, Italy.

getting on a huge soapbox:
Ok, I stayed quiet long enough.
Who is this "admin" guy from canada (employee of interscope?) who posts up these outdated run-of-the-mill article links (some examples below) that are been posted on this site innumerable times already?
2011 Ducati Diavel Review (Almost)
2011 Ducati Monster 796 Review
Just because you work for the company that ruined this forum by slowing it down and making it cluttered in the first place, does not mean that you should idly create a new thread, just to post up junk like this. Ok, we get it... you like to link to motorcycle.com articles... but if you're going to indulge in this sub-par exercise in repetition, at least add some of your own opinions showing you've actually "read" the article instead of pasting the standard advertising copy to the link, and creating a new thread on a bike which we are already discussing in other areas of the forum. Why not just add your link to the bottom of a discussion thread and see if it gains any traction?
next thing you're going to tell us I'm sure, is that there is a new ducati to replace the 998 (codename 999?) with potentially controversial styling coming out soon right? http://www.motorcycle.com/manufactur...999-14410.html
Look, either be truly involved, or just sit back and post up when you get a new website sponsor to help you collect the advertising revenue Loonies as they roll in... but no feeble attempts like this please.
ok, I'm off my soapbox, thanks.

Not everybody who surfs the net for Ducati articles/information is as knowledgeable as you. Why would you care what Vertical Scope posts here considering this is the so-called "ultimate" Ducati web site and therefore seen by many new comers to Ducati as well as by those who may be seasoned Ducati owners but prefer "one stop" browsing as an authoritative source of information and a valued, *free* service? Maybe you would prefer they run things by you before posting links/articles?

Good point I hadn't thought of regarding the new-comers where this may be helpful. But the "run things by you" part doesnt make sense... I'm commenting on this post just the same way you would comment on another posting. When one of us disagrees with it, we let others know. I think these "motorcycle.com" posting which are out of date and have been covered already actually lower the quality of the forum by adding trite repetition, so when it's an "admin" doing it it's well worth mentioning.

Yes, not only for newcomers, but also, as I mentioned, for seasoned Ducati owners who may prefer one-stop browsing for whatever reason. I think you did a little more than simply comment on a posting you disagreed with. Not only were critical of how they do business, but you also told them how they should do business. The remark about running things by you was totally warranted given your haughty tone, and I quote:

Appreciate the link to the article. I don't frequent motorcycle.com, and missed out on this review. In fact, I hadn't read any reviews of the new Evo besides some MCN youtube vids. Thanks man.
As for the Evo. Yes, it looks awesome, though they've got some selling to do with those red rims. I'll try to refrain judgement until I see it in person.

nowhere here do I talk about running something by me do i? Just suggesting that an "admin" should provide some Value Added as opposed to just plagiarising from a magazine's copy.

LOL... yep! (except, in that case it would have to be timely, not a month + after the fact no?)
