2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Preview (Details leaked!)
Ducati confirmed the existence of the long-rumored new Multistrada a couple of days ago when it launched a teaser website for the new bike, but there is nothing more than some teaser images.
However, after some gentle water-boarding of our "reliable source," we've been able to get a bunch of exclusive details of the new Multistrada 1200!
After three years in development, Ducati's new "many roads" bike is armed with a 150-horsepower salvo to go after the lucrative adventure-touring/big-trailie market dominated by BMW's excellent R1200GS. No, the new Duc isn't intended for Dakar, but most GS owners rarely take their do-it-all steeds in serious off-road situations.

2010 multistrada
I wonder how it will perform during a tour of an African country? I am daydreaming of taking a bike tour of Kenya or Ethiopia or South Africa.

I read an amazing story of a guy I believe from the UK who rode his Multistrada from the northern tip of Africa to the most southern tip. The story also included many pictures and the bike and rider had to endure some real hardship with roads obviously designed for "off road" machines. The ride completely disproved the belief the Multi was not capable of doing such a thing and that a bike like the 1200GS is. I wish I can remember where I saw the article, but it answered the question you posed whether a Multi could do it. Indeed it can.

Multistrada Pics
Just passing this along...
If the finished product looks like this, and it's not TOO pricey, I want one!

Dunno about those pics....should be called the "ant-eater" with those snout/nose looking things protruding out.
And they said the 999 was ugly..

Call me old-school, but if one is intending to head out on a cross-continent jaunt like that, I'm thinking low-tech, not ultra-mega-refined-high-tech.
Matter of fact, just to be able to make small-to-medium repairs might be a bit daunting with this techno-machine.
I'm wondering if possibly our current crop may not prove to be the "sweet spot" technology wise.....
Sometimes I just long for the simpler days.....<sigh>

sorry but
Well howe about that,
I will start of by saying sorry ( you see I love nothing more than a Ducati)
but this thing is definetly not going to replace my currant steed this thing
is BUTT UGLY with looks only a mother could love , one sad bay for myself,
I now think the I could live with a Multi 1100, they are looking much better now.
