All good points listed. I want to add one:
On cold days, make sure the tires have warmed up a bit before taking turns even at normal speed. Unfortunately I did learn this the hard way, ouch!

True that. Especially with sport tires which may never warm-up.

Define cold. I routinely ride in 35 - 45 degree weather, but I ride like it's wet out.
