Only joking, but you must have one ginormous helmet to need a quart of paint for it...
You will most likely pay $80/ pint if you get the correct Ducati Red mixed up for you in PPG or Dupont basecoat. All you'll need to do your helmet is 1/4 pint or less, but they typically won't mix less than a pint unless you are good friends with the paint guy.

Most likely, but you may get lucky depending what they use to mix it. HOK (House of Kolor) makes a pretty sick basecoat Red that I've been using on Red frames, it's very bright like the 916-996 series without the Yellow tint that sometimes makes them look Orange. That paint is $78 for a quart and it's called Blue Blood Red, sold by Coastairbrush in LA, try this link:
Coast Airbrush Products
I can dab a sample for you and mail it, so you can compare it to your tank before spending money. Photos don't do it justice, but take a look at the Motowheels Streetfighter frame for reference.

The actual eurospec paint is over $200 a quart. I got it for free/exchange when I did my 900ss.

If you don't go with a bunch of colors requiring a final top clear coat, I'd suggest the single stage PPG Concept DCC paint, when dry is hard as Emron and is quite cheaper than 2 stage paint. If you decide to go that route let me know I've had the red off my s4rs and 999R scanned so I still have the color formula. I think for a pint was less than $50.
They called it Torrid red

That price is correct, and the free/exchange part is what I meant by getting lucky. Nice when it costs nothing out of pocket...

I was thinking about repainting my dark fairings the ducati red. How much do you think is needed to cover all of the plastic and tank on a 749? Thanks

If you paint over the Dark paint, you will need to go with a lighter colored primer/sealer to get the Red to come out correct, usually light gray or white. If you are doing your own work and you have already covered all the bases, then the short answer is anywhere from 12-24 ounces of Red basecoat to get proper coverage, and that does not include reducer.
