Just throwing a feeler out there to see what everyone suggests. I currently ride a 999 mono and my wife rides my old '03 CBR600rr. I have been looking at what to add to this mix, but not sure what I want. The one definite is that they will be European bikes. My wife showed interest in the Monsters and the Streetfighter so I might be going that route for her. Lady riders please chime in with your suggestions. She is pretty tall, about 5'9" before she puts on the heels. Me, I am definitely going to get another litre bike, but am sort of stuck on what to get. I sat on the new Aprilia and the 1098/1198. I have not had time to really test ride to compare. I figured I would do it before I was ready to pull the trigger and when I had more of an idea which one I wanted. So please give me your feedback ladies and gents.
Which ape? The tuono is a great bike that is a blast to ride and a bit more comfortable. I have a feeling you weren't talking about that model though.
If you are looking at the 1198 or the ape rival, you may want to look at the Bimmer as well. I have heard nothing but great things about the electronics and engine. It may end up being the cheapest as well. I would love to get my hands on one, but I just had a baby with the wife instead!
For the wife, a monster would be good. Also, the smaller hyper may work as well. I know they don't make them anymore, but the 620 multistrada would be a fun bike as well I love my mts. It is so fun and flexible in its purpose.

Not knowing her riding skill level it would be hard to say which bike. I've owned the M696, M1100S, and now the Streetfighter. The SF stands far apart from the Monsters. Have her test ride them to see which one she likes. The SF is a rocket and a blast, but I know a few guys who said it's too much for them.
Monsters are awesome, but if she's already been riding for a while, I'd look at something like an S2R. It kinda needs exhaust and a FatDuc O2 manipulator IMO, but what Duc doesn't?
Speed Triple would also be on my short list, and an 848 if you're into more plastics... for her anyway.
At the end of the day, just go get and get a)whatever turns your crank and b)what doesn't put you into financial ruin.
Right now we are bike'less and looking to buy now that my old ss/sp is gone. There are so many good / great choices out here and as soon as you start looking across multiple manufacturers the decision becomes very very complicated. We've looked across the Ducati line-up, MV Agusta Brutale, the Tuono, BMW K1300S & GS1200 Adventure, VFR800, and Yamaha FZ1.
See what I mean? As soon as the search spreads it gets tough! I need to just real things back in a little.
My heart still leads me back to Ducati, that's all I know and all I've owned.
