Exhaust pipe changing colors ??

I just installed my Termi 54MM full exhaust and took her out for a nice ride. When I got home to check my work , I noticed that my header pipe near the exhaust port on the vertical cylinder is turning purple. Its obviously from the heat , but does that mean its too HOT and is my motor in jepardy ?? If anyone can shed some light on this I would really appreciate it. I really do not want to ride anymore till I know that I am not doing any damage to my motor.

Thanks in advance , Roland / Ikaika808

Thats perfectly normal! It will eventually turn darker and brownish black. Dont worry about it. Your bike is fine!

Polish the pipes and they will turn a cool goldish hew.

Its just the oil in the metal coming out and burning as it lays on the out side of the pipe. Looks really cool if you polish them up. nothing to worry about, its the natural progression of the metal. many pipes start to rust because after years of use the oil is at a less than .00001% of saturation and there is nothing left to protect against dew or humidity. Oil is good for the metal. Think of it as saddle soap to leather. I don't recommend trying to rub down your pipes with some oil but rather seal it in by polishing the pipes. It seals the pores at a molecular level.

Thank you both for the quick responses. I was kind of worried that it might be running to hot and I would blow my engine !! I know that sounds dumb , but better be sfe than sorry. Thought I was going to have to take her in and get her looked at , and not be able to ride for a while. Thanks again for the claification and back in the saddle I guess !!
