Gunsons Gastester

Hi

Does anyone have experience using the Gunsons Gastester to test the CO reading of the exhaust.
I have one but I'm not convinced that it is very accurate.

I'd appreciate a short 'how to'.

From what I understand, one must calibrate for around 10 minutes to 2% CO, then use after the bike is properly warm. Is it that easy?

thanks

David

Can't vouch for the accuracy but the steps you listed are what I do. During the calibration you do need to make sure it's in clean air so don't try to calibrate it on a workbench next to a running motorcycle. The calibration will be a bit off.

I have to get the "really messed up" TPS sorted first. I think it was set whilst the throttle linkage rod was sticking part way open.

Then I'll look at the CO levels

I have the Gunson Gastester. I won't claim it's a "high quality" tool. It's actually somewhat cheaply made and delicate but it seems to work.

Yes, power up the Gastester and let it stabilize for about 5-10 minutes. Then adjust the trim to read 2%CO. It'll drift with time but I don't bother tweaking it.

Here's the Gastester in action. I'll be breaking it out again as my 999S is due for another 6000mi interval service and I'm about to fire up my Monster project.
