Neutral Light on while in gear
Hi all, well I have owned a 2001 748 for about 6 months now. Love the bike.
A little back ground on the problem. Went on a group ride yesterday and everything worked fine. Went down to the shop to clean the bike up and fix a problem with the Evoluzine license plate light. After finding out that I need a new one. Turned the ignition switch on and the neutral light won't light up when the bike is in neutral, but when it is in gear the green neutral light comes on. The license plate light is the only connection that was disconnected.
Anyone have any ideas?

OK everyone here can call me a idiot. Figured out what the problem was. A blown fuse.
What I can surmise is that while working on the license plate lite I somehow grounded it on the exhaust. Well, came back home and checked the manual that is on-line at Ducati.nu and it said to ohm out the wires. Well did that and checked all the connections that I could reach on the bike. As a last resort I checked the fuses and lo and behold the 7.5 amp fuse for the tail lights et al was blown.
So instead of a healthy diagnostics bill it only cost me about $4.00 for this repair.
Hope that this will help out someone else in the future.

Leonard,
I'm having an issue with my license plate light. I installed rear LEDs from cycle dynamics.
I recently tried to hook up my license plate lights. For the life of me, I can't. I blow the fuse everytime I hook up the licence plate lights to the factory wires (white/yellow, black). This should be a no brainer.
The lights work (led licence plate lights), I confirmed with a battery. I'm lost.
Can you tell me what wires you used to tap in the the factory harness.

Level7 the wires that I'm using are the black and yellow wires. I am unable to check the wiring diagram on ducati.nu here at work, but I think that these are the wires that are for the stock license plate light. I hope that this helps.

Yep, that's the same ones I'm trying to use. I must have wired my rear LEDs incorrectly for the license plate LEDS to keep blowing out the fuse.

Me too, due to vibrations the bulb keeps blowing, I've given up changing it now as it's not a 'safety' issue, although I suppose it might cause an inconvenience to the local law enforcement if they can't read the plate, should I be transgressing any laws at night
Interesting about the fuse though.......
