Do you have a stocking Ducati Dealership?
My local (hour away) Ducati dealership stocks nothing. I had a low side and bought a left deflector, left lower fairing, clutch lever, left peg, gear shift, and the rubber piece on the outside of the clipon. They didn't stock any of it.
They said it would be at the store in 8 days. When I called them on Saturday they told me that Ducati Italy took three days off and didn't tell anybody so all orders are about three days behind. Is this true? Can anyone verify this? It just seems odd. But this is also a store that took three weeks to get an Icon helmet (for my son) that I could have easily purchased from a Honda dealership (10 minutes away and in stock) or Dennis Kirk. But I want to give my Ducati store the business, but they do not seem to care. You know, I can't even pick up a Ducati sticker to put on my Jeep. They don't sell them.
I'm a branch manager in a different industry of a international chain. If I don't have it and I can't get it from the original vendor, I perform stock checks of other stores to see if another store has it. Also, if there are vendors, my store, UPS, or anything else that can cause delays I personally call the customer to let them know. I don't want to waste their time calling or coming to pick something up and it's not there.
I want my customers to spend money at my store because they want to be there not because they feel they have no other option. Don't they?
If this is normal, Ducati shouldn't be surprised when customers by everything aftermarket.
I'm not trying to slam my Ducati house, I just want to know if this is status quo elsewhere?
Venting now complete.......

I order all of my parts through bikebandit.com They charge the same amount as dealerships and it usually gets to my house within 4 buisness days, even when it comes from Italy. They also have the parts fiche for everybike, broken down into sections. Each section has a price list on the bottom of the page so you dont have to call for all the prices.

BCM Ducati (New Hampshire) and Ducati Seattle are both excellent. Good idea to support the good dealers because a) there aren't enough of 'em as it is and b) parts houses carry Ducati stuff as long as it suits THEM. In the long run, they don't do nearly as much for the Ducati community as a good dealer does.

from my experiences, very few duc dealerships stock much of anything.
I can understand why too, that's a lot of $$ to have laying around in inventory.

Sometimes it depends on the part you need. Recently, my local dealer had the following for my '02 S4 in stock:
bikini fairing
flyscreen
battery
radiator guard screws
Compared to the number of items I had to order (another get off), this isn't much. Still, I was surprised they had any of it.

Which three days?
May 1st is a holiday, and April 25th is the most important holiday in Italy (equivalent of the 4th of July in the US in importance). An most Italians took the 24th off to have a long weekend, and maybe the 26th as well.
But contrary to popular belief, Italy has few holidays, in fact often when it's a holiday here (Switzerland), I can go to Italy (15 minutes by bike) and stores are open.

Once, I had to have a local dealer order an OIL FILTER for me!!! I couldn't believe that one. That dealer no longer carries Ducati, though.

My local dealer before I moved carried _nothing_. Everything was a special order, even normal consumables, except for maybe oil filters if you got lucky.
One of the local dealers I have been to (Erico) seems to have a fair amount of parts on hand like relays, gaskets, circlips, belts, etc...
