Inside of the Desmosedici engine

I recently posted some rare photos of the inside of the Desmosedici engine on the DucCutters site, if anyone is interested in seeing more of the engine...
http://www.duccutters.com/InsideDesmosedici.tpl

Just for fun, I took a picture of a S4RS and insert the Desmosedici engine (using the clutch cover as the scale) to make a "S16R Desmosedici Monster". Shouldn't cost no more then 60,000 Euro.

what's with the tear-down of such a new bike?

is a total engine disassembly required for service?

great photos- thanks for the link.

I would guess that those are pictures from the dealer training sessions that the mechanics have to go through before a dealer can sell a D16.

For one, the engine is still in that bike, while you can see the demo engine still on the stand. Two, the side covers on the engine on the stand look pretty beat up, like they've been through multiple assembly/disassembly sessions.

I think I read somewhere that Ducati allows their techs either 8 or 12 hours to set the valves! OUCH $$$$$

Sounds like good value to me. Think about what you have said....remove the engine and attend to each of 16 valves. ONLY 12 hours ? Dude...you don't recognize a bargain when it is looking you in the eye !!

BTW, to change a spark plug you need to drop the engine. What else would youi expect in a GP derivative machine ?
