Thumbs up Keith Code to host Superbike School for Ducati Owners Group

Just in, Keith Code to host his world reknown California Superbike School for Ducati Owners Group members Oct 11, 2007 at Thunderhill Raceway.

After a flurry of phone calls and emails, the date was finalized yesterday. Thanks to Brian Davis for inviting Mr. Code to the forum and Tduc for asking him if it would be possible to host a school for Ducati Owners in Northern California.

In the coming days and weeks, more information regarding this premier event will be posted here, on the DOG website www.ducati-owners-group.com, motowheelsevents.com and other related websites. Already there are many suppliers, vendors and manufacturers interested in getting involved to make this one day school the most memorable one ever.

I thought for information purposes, I would post it here. But if you want to learn more about this special event, click on Northern California in the subforums.

Needless to say there is a lot of excitement around here, anticipating Mr. Code's return to Thunderhill Raceway after being away for approximately 5 years. Being that Thunderhill is way up in Northern California, you Ducati owners in Oregon and Washington take notice. Furthermore, Mr. Code is extending us an exclusive discount for being Ducati Owners Group members.

Stand by for further information though here and the above websites.

I am so sick and tired of California riders and their access to tracks and instruction. Sick of if it I tell you.

Good job, should be an outstanding event.

Keith is away for a few days, when he gets back we will finalize how to sign up. I've thought of using the same protocol like a private track day, that way we can control the situation better. Either way, we will have something within a week.

I was introduced to the owner of Munroe Motors today (Nick) and I told him about the Keith Code School and also the Ducati Owners Group private trackday June 19th. Nick thought it was great to have Keith Code's school come up here just for Ducati owners and he wants to support us by getting the word out. He also mentioned that a group of Duc owners in his area have been talking about organizing a private track day. Well, they don't have to, they can join us DOG members. Being a Ducati owner is like being part of an extended family.

I met Nick at the AFM races at Infineon. Great guy. He told me the new 1098 took 1st and I believe 2nd or 3rd in Open Twins earlier. Later in the day it did pretty well in Open Superbike and Formula Pacific. I believe they took 5th or 6th. I was a little disappointed at that, but I don't know the circumstances and can only speculate the performance parts flow hasn't started yet so the bikes are stock. I suppose the dealership sponsors like Munroe, Moto Italia, Desmoto, etc are still messing with suspensions, tuning and all that other complicated stuff in order to make the 1098 more competitive. I don't think its a fraction of the way close to its potential. Just from my vantage point in the stands, you can see it has more grunt than the 999R. Things will leap forward once the R motor comes out, however, the controversy has yet to be resolved regarding race status of both the 1098 and the proposed 1198.

Its great to hear the 1098 win in Open Twins but as I recall, GoGo Gulbransen won that championship the last couple years on the "little" 749R. Unfortunately I heard today he lost his sponsorship and at least for now he is not racing. I hope he hooks up somewhere and soon, he was a highly skilled racer and held the rare distinction of getting Ducati factory help despite being a club racer. All I can say is he earned it, working with the late great Jimmy Adamo to ultimately a distinguished racing record on an underpowered machine. He won on determination and skill, he made up 5 spots on the grid with that alone.

I'll get back on task eventually, I just got back from the races and I'm still a little pumped up. Its really a great venue.
