I can't believe the factory still keeps him. How much is a race spec bike worth? I'm sure they don't reuse parts from a crashed bike. And he's not like a Rossi where he wins alot to justify the cost of the crashed bikes.

Technically, Xaus is not a factory rider. He's on the satellite Ducati Sterilgarda squad. They pay him, lease the bikes and pay for the parts, not Ducati.

Red faster? Forget it. Yellow faster? Not even close. The only Ducati V-twin to win a GP race was painted SILVER.

That is going to be one bankrupt team if he keeps it up .

He pays for his own bikes now. It has been a clause in his contract since 2002, back then it was a certain number of crashes and he had to pay for the bikes after that, but for Sterilgarda, I have read that he pays for every bike he crashes, hence less crashing. He is still a great rider, and definitely fun to watch, and he gives hope to us tall racers.
PS: They do repair and reuse crashed bits, anything that can be salvaged and polished back up is reused on a race bike, even on a factory team.
