Angry Experience with Ducati's online store

What has everyone's experience been with Ducati's online store? (aka shopatron)

I ordered 4 items a week ago.

1 x Arai helmet
1 x Ducati Strada goretex gloves
1 x long sleeve under shirt
1 x balaclava

So here's the first weird thing, they split the helmet off and made it two separate orders for some bizarre reason. So a few days later I get an email saying the Strada gloves have been discontinued. I thought that was odd because they are a brand new model, even says "pre order today!" on the description. So I email and ask what the deal was, no response. So the gloves get cancelled.

Moving on. A week passes by and I hear nothing about the order. So I email them and ask what's going on. 2 days later someone responds. "It appears the items are back ordered until Feb 22." - Uhhh what? Why do you have to beg for this information? That really pisses me off because I won't be in the country, and expected to receive these items a week later instead of questioning what's going on more than a week later.

So I ask about the helmet, and they respond with "we're searching for it now, it will take 12 days to search for it."

I'm just about to cancel everything and call it quits. Why are these people so useless????? And why the hell do they have product for sale on their website that they don't actually have?!?!

They're Italian. What did you think was going to happen? Go on the Dainese website and view all the cool stuff they paid a gazillion Euros to have modeled and photographed. Then try to order something and find out they don't produce 75% of what they advertise.

Why not order a plain Arai from one of the many on-line retailers and have it painted locally the way you want it; at, I'm guessing, a smaller sum than what DP wants.

And there are other sources of gloves, etc. Lots of them.

Good luck.

fwiw considering your location i would suggest ducati seattle ,they are more likely to stock the stuff you want than that website, and you get to try it on.
ps most that euro stuff fits pretty small

Yes pretty useless still waiting for 2 shirt order over a year ago...was never cancel by them but I also don't expect to ever get them.... I was surprise when they sent my order to the state and it wasn't even in stock at that shop...

Also some of the items were discontinued but still showing as available....now I just deal with shop's directly.

Getting a helmet painted is about 900.00 + the helmet so you really have to like the design I found my latest one on eBay new not cheap but that's what I wanted

They're not Italian. This is Ducati North America that's using Shopatron, it's an American operation. How it works is that Shopatron contacts authorized Ducati dealers in North America to find out who has the product. The product probably has never even set foot on Italian soil either, made in China. The Arai that i want is on special for $800 bucks.

Did you check eBay for the helmet?

Shopatron is just a way for DNA to sell there stuff.....not sure as to why they don't handle it probably cheaper and they don't have stock nothing since its coming from duc dealers...I will never deal with Shopatron again!

Close, but shopatron doesn't contact dealers. Dealers have to login daily to see the orders and if they have stock they put a bid in for the order (not a price bid - just a notification that they have some or all of the order). From there shopatron automatically assigns the closest dealer with stock to fill part or all of the order depending on the situation.

Only a portion of the dealer network participate in this program. Currently we don't and we have one of the largest stocks of current items in the US at the moment. So the system is a good idea in theory, but the dealer network isn't big enough with deep enough stock to really make it totally smooth.

There are other companies using shopatron very successfully, but they have far more dealers and far better stock at those dealers.

Thanks for the inside info. I'm really trying to track down this specific helmet, as I don't like the design of the new one that everyone has stock of. Have any hiding in the back, size M?

That is a discontinued model so finding stock will be hard. We sold out of them long ago. Our dealer management software does allow us to see stock of dealers in the network using the same software and who have signed up for the inventory program... there is only one dealer listed that has this helmet - and they say they have two.

Phibbs Power Sports in Albany, NY. Contact is Jerry = 518-459-5000. I'd call to check stock because inventories listed aren't always correct, but with a quantity of two I'd guess they probably have it.

We do have 4 of the new 2012 Arai Corsair V helmets in your size in stock: Ducati Corse Corsair V Helmet by Arai (98101741X) | Pro Italia if you can't find the other and are still wanting a high end Arai from Ducati.
