Couldn't be more happy
well... i guess i could but i definatally feel alot better now.
Was a happy day when i finally purchased my 2008 1098s from the dealer, however from that moment on its been an absolute nightmare.
Now you may be asking yourself what exactly that nightmare was. INSURANCE my god getting this bike insured here in canada (New Brunswick) was unbelievablly difficult.. 9/10 companies have ALL ducati's blacklisted and the ones that dont want $5000 a YEAR!!!
Thats not even the worst part, when i picked the bike up, i originally signed on with statefarm, rates weren't amazing but not awful either $220/mo full coverage 1 mil liability $1000 deductable for the car, a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS and $45/month full coverage $1 mil liability $1000 deductable on the 08 1098s totaling $265/month sigh alot but manageable, now a couple days after picking the bike up, i get a phonecall from statefarm with some awful news.. i had a minor speeding ticket (15kmh over) that i had completely forgotten about on my record. Well let me tell you statefarm does NOT like tickets on your record because HOLY CRAP did my rates ever increase.... to the tune of a new monthly payment of $398/mo!!! thats a friggin CAR PAYMENT just for insurance.
So i guess at this point i should provide a little background information about myself. I'm a 26 year old Paramedic for Ambulance New Brunswick making around 60k/yr i have had no accidents at fault or not on my record, not so much as a parking ticket.. the only thing was the single minor speeding ticket. Had my MC license for 5 years and been carrying MC insurance for 5 years as well
Anyway as you can imagine i spent the next week on the phone trying to find someone to insure this friggin bike, and as most require your car to be signed with them i guess i was looking for a deal on my car insurance as well. Was reccomended to a company from a neighboring city (pretty sure its just a broker) and made another shot in the dark phone call. Happily about 4 hours later she phoned me back with some great news:
Car - 1319/yr with $500 deducatable 1million liability, loss of use or $109/mo
Bike 993/yr with $500 deducatable 1million liability or 82.75/mo
Honestly this is leaps and bounds better than every other company i had called (something silly like 30 or so companies i called) compared to statefarm which wanted $398 getting it down to $192 a difference of $206/m puts a smile on my face.
Now i just need to paitently wait for the snow to melt so i can finally ride the damn thing and stop making engine rev noises in my sleep
Well thats my story, thanks for reading

Watch out for the ole bait and switch. Once you've transferred all your business to the new insurance company, they will either drop you like a hot turd, or jack your rates up. I've heard of this happening before. I have State Farm and have never been told my Ducati is any different to insure than any other bike, because they go simply by the CC's, not "sport/tour/race/crusier" etc. You have an 1100 cc bike, your are 26, with a speeding ticket. My guess is is what those factors were what your premium was based on as well as where you live, not that the bike is a Ducati.
I hope you stay happy. There are some very nice roads to ride out east, when the snow melts.

Ehh its just the standard around here. Fiddling with it typically does very little with the price of the insurance.

Ok. I apologize if I seemed a bit stunned, but after looking at my policy (which is due by the way ) I'm trying to figure out where I'd see a 1mil liability clause in it. Sorry, I may be just a bit confused.
Hope You get it all straightened out.

Man, just switched from a 2009 speed triple to a 2008 hyper s and my ins went up also. I was not expecting that! I went through a few ins companies and ended up with nationwide.

A million liability is pretty common here in Canada, and we don't sue at the drop of a hat either.fwiw I knew a fellow who had a lawn tractor fall off his trailer ,injured a homeless person ,he's pretty happy he had excess insurance when it was done, and the homeless guys got a pretty nice place now from what I hear
