I touched it and it was GOOD!
My perfect garage was in the "Dream Room."
8hr round trip to the Cleveland IMOT provided an excellent chance to see, feel and touch all the latest goodies.
First, as not suprise - Fing BMW and KTM were not at the show. Bastards!!!
2nd, Japanese had nothing = total bore.
Triumph was ok and I got a slight smile and quick response when asking the Triumph rep if a Liter sport bike is coming next year. Though, I got the same reponse when asking about the Ducati 799.
Back to the dream room, the space just rocked:
Buell 1190 - looked really nice but nothing fancy.
MV F3 - sat on it and rocked the shocks a bit. lame but fun!
KTM RC8r Track - I like this one a lot but was already towed around Little Tally by one so, nothing too exciting.
Norton 961 - Sat and drooled on this one
Ape RSV Factory = very sexy ride, much impressed
Guzzi 7 racer = I would buy this one, very nicely done
AMG Diavel = passed on that one and the beta dirt bikes.
Yes, yes, yes - the crowd around the Ducati display was immense. 1199 was on box (stage) and looking every bit as trick as you would expect. I reached out and gave it's clutch a squeeze and thumped the carbon frame/airbox thingy. Odd looking duck but it does impress more in person than in the pictures.
Best thing of all: Only KTM and 1199 would be distinguishable at warp speed as all the rest just looked like Japanese clones.

I thought about going this morning. But, because of the 'lame' claims I read over the last few years, and the fact that Great Lakes Brewing isn't open on Sunday's, I did not. It seems I made the right choice. Again.

Now the Norton at 80 hp is another story. If only it wasn't priced at 14,000 Euro.

I had the US pricing link somewhere but lost it. Cafe and Sport have list prices around $15k US.
The bike has a pretty low seat height and pegs seemed high for my inseam. I didn't find the reach to the cafe clipons very comfortable. I would like to try the Sport version with the higher handlebars before I rule it out.

Really like the looks of the Norton. Captures that 1950s Manx TT look in a nice retro way. 15K is steep though. On the other hand, you are not likely to see many of them on the road and it has a nice premium suspension. If I was a rich man...
