What's the reason for you ridding a Ducati??
I was just curious as to why you are ridding a ducati?? I know most of us didn't start that way, so why did you go to ducati?
As for me I started ridding a Yamaha a SRX 250 at the age of 15 (going on 41 now) rode honda's 600's for a while. Went to Kawasaki ZX7 then to ZX9's and finally R1's. I hit 40 and wanted a change so I tried a HD and it just wasn't for me. I like the comfortable felling with the hd but the handling I couldn't live with. I tried a yamaha star since I was a yamaha guy but that was even worse then the hd. I found a 09 1198s in my area and had a little money saved up since I thought I was going to get a hd. I decided that if the Duc wasn't for me I could just sell it and go back to a R1. I have had my Duc for about 2 months now and wow what a change for the better. I have been bitten by the Ducati bug, everything is Ducati now lol, this is something I should have done years ago. My next one is going to be a classic ducati, I have been looking at the older ones and just love them.
Just wanted to hear from others how you got started ridding on a ducati. One of the best things that has happened to me

For me it's 1/3 looks; 1/3 sound; 1/3 handling. Not always in that order!
You can also throw in character...my last bike was a BMW K100RS. Nice bike, but a bit bland. Turn the key, start the bike and ride away...ho hum. The Duc makes music, feels more alive than the sewing machine impression of the K100RS.

I love riding my Ducati, and I can't even imagine ridding myself of it.

My 2 998's have been the most problematic bikes I've owned so far. The reason I love them is because of how they feel. Lots of grunt, low end torque. that beautiful ring of the dry clutch, The rumble of the Termis. Not to mention that it truly feels like you have something special when zooming around. I've own quite a few bikes. R6, 3 aprilias Mille R/Factory, MV Agusta F41000, Couple GSXRs 1000/600 bikes. As cool as those bikes were, The Ducati has the most soul and just feels special all around. Even compared to the MV, It's just such a perfect machine. Not to mention it's a timeless masterpiece. That's why I love Ducati

While riding my BSA thunderbolt on a club ride I had a friend glide by on his ST2 & pull away effortlessly. I said to myself "someday".
It was worth the wait for "someday."

Those are some great reasons, I like the ho hum reason lol. I really hear you about the sound, it's great. I always will have a place in my heart for my Japanese bikes. I love that there is little to no problems with them. Start them up beat the crud out them and they keep going.
I will have to admit that the first night I had a panic attack wondering if I did the right thing? Spending close to 20k for a bike had me a little on edge, plus I never had any experience with ducati ever!! It had me worried. Not that it was all my cash but that's a lot of money if it's not my cup of tea.
After a few rides my confidence was there and the feel of the ducati was unreal, never had I had a twin rocket like this. Never had a twin period lol I Found myself redlining it a few times due to the R1's long rev range but I'm getting used to using the torque now and how fast you are there.
I have been mechanic for over 20 years now and always done my own work on my bikes. Working on this Ducati, it is truly a work of art. I'm not really a naked kinda bike guy but the beauty of the ducati just weeps to be let out.
I have truly been bitten by the ducati bug and very happy about it. Thanks to everyone for sharing there stories and lets keep them coming.

Yup, I was going to play on that one too ....
Reason for ridding a Ducati: spreading tank and a few other costly quality (lack of) issues.
Still have one left and that one will never leave the fold, although she might end up inside the house, never to be ridden again.

Saw a Hyper 796 in a Maxim Magazine article. Never rode a bike but thought it was cool and told the wife. She said buy one so I found one. Guess she didn't think I would really buy one so she then insisted I take the MSF course and get an endorsement first. So I did and now a Hyper 1100 resides in my garage. Great decision so far
