If the punishment was more severe perhaps cagers would look twice before turning in front of bikes. Kill a rider, do some jail time, that 3 ton SUV is a weapon, get careless and you must pay the price!

Similar situation here in NY. A few month ago another ducati rider, a 27 yr old kid, was killed in an accident where a driver pulled an illegal u-turn right in front of him, the fled the scene. She had no driver license. Finally she was procecuted and got a f*cking 60 day sentence. A travesty...
Heres the link. The worst part of this article are the comnents left by the readers. Just shows how motorcycle riders are seen by general public..

Martin, I am guessing that financial help will probably be most helpful now. The forum has already sent over $500 in donations and hopefully much more.

Just to update this thread, it has already been posted on Bills other thread. Bills FB status says that his Docs have recommended the amputation of his left leg from just above the knee. We are all praying and hoping that something else can be done, but this is the info at this moment. Everyone say a prayer.

First, I want to wish Bill the best, a full recovery to health and a return to the riding he loves. I've never met Bill, but because of the connection that is this forum, it feels like a friend of mine has been hurt.
Second, the slap on the wrist is often all the offending driver gets. A failure to yield citation, a ridiculously low fine. The AMA has been fighting for more appropriate penalties in cases like this. The driver says she didn't see the motorcyclist, but was she even paying attention?!

It's sad to know about these incidents. A person was killed and all she paid for was a 60-day sentence!... Hopefully something, other than amputation of Bill's leg, could be done. Nothing is impossible with the Lord. Let's all kneel and pray!

Bill,
My prayers are with you. May you have a full, healthy, and speedy recovery.
I would like to see the woman get charged with attempted vehicular man slaughter or something of the sort.

Very unlikely. Cagers get a slap on the wrist in cases like these. My appologies for negativity here...
My prayers are with Gilly and his family...
