Tankslapper 3M Protection??
Anyone on here fitted one of Tankslappers 3M kits to their Duc at all? I'm sick of having to worry about my zips/stone chips etc damaging the paint... I've read a few reviews about the kits, it seems the 3m product is more difficult to apply, but probably stronger. I was thinking of ordering a full 3m kit for the monster, but thought I'd ask on here as to whether others had tried them out at all. It says on their website that there should be no issues washing/waxing over the top of the product, I never wash with high pressure, but read a couple of stories about regular hose pressure lifting up the protection Then again, that might be tankslappers statically attached product, and not the adhesive 3m version... Any insight would be appreciated! Here's a link to their site for anyone unfamiliar with the product.

I think Tankslapper offers both 3m and static type. I opted for the static type, it applies the same way as the 3m material (I've used 3m material for years).
I put it on my rsv4 tank, to me it seems to squeegee and conform to shapes better than 3m. THe static material was very easy to work with.
It's also good value for the money.
Here's a link to a company that sells the 3m film in bulk, which is how I get it:

I used 3M C/F look film on the bike last year and it is still firmly attached.

Tankslappers static film I only applied it to the tank area and rear panels. Places where zippers, leg movement, gear tie downs would abrade the paint. I dont think its practical to apply it everywhere on an ST or superbike plastics. But definitely those areas mentioned.

2nd bike with it. I get the combo 3m and static material. Tankslapper people know what works best. Take your time, follow instructions and use a hair dryer it helps.

I had the 3M on my Monster. It wasn't difficult at all to apply and it was strong, did not move at all, provided GREAT protection and was nearly invisible. You had to get really close to tell it was there. Perfect way to protect without altering the look imo.

Cool, sounds like a goer for sure. Will be getting a nice corse stripe kit to stick under it too. Thanks for the replies!

I have the 3M material on my ST...covered all kinds of things and places. To too hard to install. Look at the you tube videos and countless instructions, then try on something expendable...like the washing machine or dryer. Then work on flat surfaces of the bike to get the hang of it.
Two seasons so far...no yellowing. No peeling. Still looks great. Best part is there are no chips from flying debris or errant zippers!
Good luck!

Good judgment comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
The reverse side also has a reverse side.

I had their 3M version on my first Streetfighter tank. It was good stuff. The sides were easy to apply, but it can get really difficult if you have a tank with a lot of compound curves (which the SF tank has in the center).
I have to apply another one on my new tank and it'll be the same Tankslapper one.
