Shipping a bike from US to EU?

So I have been thinking lately that I should go spend a few months in Europe. Being (somewhat) young and single I hear that Spain is a pretty cool place. I'm wondering what the cost and wait would be to ship my bike there from California and if there are any taxes, fees, special licensing, etc that I would need to take into account.

Any info is appreciated thanks!

Leave your bike at home. You can work out great long term rental deals over there, plus you are using their tires, etc. Insurance is taken care of on a rental and not so easy if you ship your bike there.

Do you know his username for this board? Can't seem to find any contact info on his blog. Thanks.

I really want MY bike... and I can't find anything comparable online at least. What I have seen looks to be pretty expensive just for your average bike per day. That said though if I could find an easier, cheaper, almost as fun alternative I would be all for it.

His userid is "Z0rr0" (those are zeros):

You'll have a great time in Spain if you like to party. Spaniards know how to have a great time and are always up for fun...plus they are huge bike nuts.

I looked into a few years ago when I was going through France. Used to be easy to ship your bike, but these days its a real PITA. When I looked into it, all of the shippers only wanted to leave from a Canadian airport due to customs, TSA, etc. Maybe it's easier now.

FYI, if you're planning on being there less than 3 weeks. Definitley rent. It'll be cheaper. I know you ride a Duc like the rest of us, but consider a BMW. If you decide to rent a BMW, IMTBike.com is the place to go in Spain.

Spain is a lot of fun. Ridden there several times and always enjoyed it. Great moto roads all over the country, especially through the Pyrenees and around Barcelona. Have some Iberico and enjoy the ride!
