Hello Fred.
One huge difference for the 1199 is that they are not forced to use the spec Bridgstones of Moto GP.
Feel is a combination of tires, frame and suspension. The Moto GP front tire is supposedly very stiff, requireing frame flex and suspension to do the whole job, where the Superbike tire is softer and more like a street tire. Freedom in tire choice may be able to solve the feel issue for the street and Pirellis may solve it in Superbike.

Unfortunately for Ducati, marketing cares not one iota about what tires you use.
Que the PR blitz...

lol @ unsuccessful, the motogp bike is only like 1 second to 1.5 off the top spot for qualifying. Its not like anybody complaining about how the new chassis is, will be able to ride to anywhere near that level... 99% of the people that will buy the 1199 wont be limited by the bike, its going to be the rider. I dont think its as "terrible" as people are thinking.

it's a PR nightmare in my book... like opening a new restaurant, and getting a terrible review in the local paper.. and it's why Bayliss' face will be out there as much as possible... instead or being able to use Rossi's face for marketing, which is what Ducati was probably thinking of last year at this time..

OK,... but at that level, 1.0-1.5 sec off is approaching humiliating for a factory team.
Few who buy this bike will seriously believe they could compete in MotoGP/SBK... But this bike is about selling the dream. And that requires marketing.
Much easier to sell the bike with Rossi on the top step of the podium in the adverts. A grid photo with the duc P11,... and similar race results... Not so much.
And if it's got an MSRP ~$24K,... Good luck.

"That Ducati discounted Stoner's input is now painfully obvious. He found it almost impossible to get upgrades and changes to the bike during the seasons in which he rode it and to his immense credit, he didn't whinge about it.'
i'm not sure how that article could say that stoner didnt whine about the bike though...

You don't have a clue what 1.5 seconds off the pace means in racing.
"Terrible" is being very kind to Ducati.

Get a life mate.
Hitting the pavement hard at speed on corner entry for no apparent reason would entitle anyone to have an opinion
about things.

+1 Spot on; most potential buyers want people to believe they are capable because they are riding the bike with the most wins.
