Ducati's Handling of Expanding Tank Issues
I know there has been lots of discussion about the tank problems and after reading proposed settlement of the law suit, had to make my opinion heard. So...sent a message to Ducat NA stating that if this is the best they can do, I am done with Ducati. I currently own 2 ducs and have owned others, but with both of my current bikes having tank issues, my future purchases are clearly going to be of other brands. If Ducati does not step up and correct this with a permanent fix (both mechanically and cosmetically), I am done with the brand. IMHO, the proposed fix is a hack and they should offer tanks of a different material or pay owners the cost of a new tank, so we can contract someone to build us a steel or aluminum one.
It is that simple. Costly up front, but retains a loyal client base and allows the bikes to survive time. Without something offered like this it is good by to Ducati for me.
Interested in what others think. Would you still buy another Ducati if the do not properly resolve this issue?

In Europe we don't have these issues of expanding tanks. Can't you get some fuel without the additives that make the fuels expand???

No government mandated additive at the pump!
Aside from buying race fuel and topping off at home only not much getting away from it.

Europe is starting to get the ethenol fuel. When this first started, it was in the US only. Everyone said it was those crazy americans.. Then they started having issues in europe, and realized it was an issue with the tanks.
There are VERY few places to get non-ethenol fuel. Fewer every day.
Will this waver my ducatista soul? Idk. I am a duc die hard, but i have 3 bikes with the plastic tank issues, so i hope this ends well.

There are plenty of ethanol free pumps around. You just gotta find em.

Not in Kalifornia. All gas (unless race gas or at marinas, I think) has ethanol. After all, that's what our government says is good for us. Ironically, isn't Ducati's HQ in Cupertino?

Maybe where you are, but in a whole lot of places there aren't. And when you're out on the road, you really can't be that picky.

That's not true. Many states don't have them. Many of us would need to ride many states away to find the ethanol free stations and would run out if petrol way before we even got there.
