Brembo Master Cylinder Rebuild or Replace?

I have a 98 916 BiPosto that has had the clutch master cylinder fail. The unit is a Brembo with a part number of 10.5058. I have heard some of these units can be rebuild and some not??

Anyone have any advice on whether this can be rebuild or must be replaced.

I tried searching for the part number and Brembo on Google without any luck.

Thanks much!

Sadly there are no rebuild kits available for these Brembo master cylinders. Not even for the much earlier 'coffin'-style master cylinders. I think Brembo got worried about product liability on offering rebuild kits for their later master cylinders, in case some cack-handed mechanic rebuilt the brake master cylinder and then the owner ended up without brakes at an inopportune time. The master cylinders on such things as bevel-drive Ducatis and Pantahs et al have rebuild kits available but I suspect this still happens as Brembo have always done so, and that some BMWs used these master cylinders as well, and BMW likes to ensure spares are available for all their bikes, regardless of age.
In short you'll need to replace the master cylinder ---> eBay.

Try these guys, they may be able to help MG Cycle - Moto Guzzi Parts and Accessories available online at MGCycle.com They specialize in Moto Guzzi parts, but many parts (brakes & clutches) are shared across Italian manufacturers.

If you do find parts, inspect the bore and piston for pitting. A kit will probably only consist of a couple of o-rings and a seal.

Let us know what & where you found for parts.
