Tool Kit

The GT came with: dual purpose screwdriver, plug socket, bar for plug socket, bag for previous, helmet cable. Wow. I immediately added a rag and a spare tail light bulb.

Yesterday, I stopped at Home Despot and picked up a few tools that I thought I might be able to add in the space provided under the GT's seat.

Pic 1 - how much can I get in there?

pic2 - all but the rag (substituted a smaller one) and the 2 screw drivers (put the original back in because it's smaller).

Kept the original kit, too! I feel a little better now.

These tool kits are laughable. The original equipment tool kit on my old beemer was worlds better than what my ST3 came with.

Like you I have been adding tools to mine, as many as will squeeze into the pouch.

Can you still fit an extra side stand bolt in there?

You should take a look at the Streetfighter tool kit for a good laugh (if you can find it ). And there is really nowhere else to put one on that bike.

NC, tool kit threads are fun, and if you really want to learn more about them, click on the link below. As for the screwdriver set, you might look into buying a "two in one" type to save you some space. It's all about having the tools your bike requires so to get you going should you need further assistance down the road.

have fun with this:

Man, I wish I had space for "better" tools. My aftermarket alarm system took up almost the entire underseat space. I can at least still fit the stock kit in there plus a kickstand plate. Once I get a Duc.EE, I'll have more room.

Edit: I forgot that I also have a CrampBuster, my registration and my insurance info.

These days, depending on where you ride, the best tool kit is a AMA membership with Motow and a cell phone.
Fact of the matter is that there's not a whole lot you can do if you new bike breaks. Even a flat tire is going to require a stand because most of our bikes don't even have centerstands anymore.
