Powder coating wheels

I own a 2010 1198s. I have the matte black color wheels. Ive stopped at two different Powder coatings businesses. Just cant get a good feeling about doing this. Here are my questions

The P.C. place has to chemically trip the old finish off? (Dont know I feel about this)
Choosing a color. Would like Gold…..This was harder then I thought.

I guess im just looking for someone that has done this. How the outcome is and were you happy.

i was told, although possible, it is not a good idea to powder coat aluminum as they are already heat treated. Heat cycling them with powder coat may make the wheel more brittle. Just what I have heard.

Ive powder coated my wheels and everything has been fine! It is kind of a pain having to take all the bearings and things out but the outcome looks great!

Mine were glass beaded prior powder coating and I have to say I'd do it again.
