Question missin' my Duc

Well, about a year ago I sold my 07 S4R-T (titanium / black stripe) due to medical reasons. I had just gotten it where I wanted with the Marving exhaust, cored mufflers, etc. Had 3 major abdominal surgeries though and can't ride in a forward lean position.

Bought a 2007 VFR800 Interceptor and added Heli bars thinking that would fix things. Took less than a month to realize I couldn't stand coughin' up blood everytime I rode more than 20 minutes.

At the advice of the doc, I bought a bike with a low seat and upright position... Never considered myself a Harley type, but I bought a 2011 Street Glide with the 103 / ABS, etc.

Here I am a year later and I'm just not feeling the Harley. With mods I've sank $25k into it and I just don't feel "passionate" about it like I did with the Duc. I'm considering selling it and trying a 1200 Multi or perhaps even a Hyper. They're both pretty much upright, although the seat height isn't low. Don't flame me for the HD. I've already given myself enough grief over it.

So, what do you all think about the comfort level of the 1200 Multi and Hypermotard 1100? I would probably buy the S version of which ever I get if I make this switch.

Go sit on then ride a Diavel. I won't be the only person to tell you this.
I believe you're in for a pleasant surprise!

Do you have a local dealer who allows test rides? You never know how a bike feels until you ride it. I test rode a Multi when they first came out and decided that even though it is a nice bike, it is not the bike for me.

The closest dealer is about 90 miles away. I'm not sure if they allow test rides on new bikes. I have to figure out what I'm going to do about selling my current bike, then I'll figure out the next step. I like the thought of the electronically adjustable suspension on the multi. The low seat on the diavel leads me that way. At least I have plenty of time to chew on it.

Never having ridden a Diavel, I have no input regarding that bike other than the styling seems to be a "love it, or hate it" type of thing for most.
I own a Multi and think it would be a great option for you. Although more upright and I would think more comfortable, the riding position is probably more simliar to your old Duc than a Diavel would be. My guess is that it would feel more natural to you.

i would pick the multi over the hyper especially with your problems. the multi is much smoother ridding and more open for the rider which i think you would like.

or an ST3/ST4? The sitting position is pretty much upright. It may not have the performance of an S4R, but it's not slug either.

Thye nearest dealer is 90 miles away? That's not an excuse, that's a reason!!! 90 miles, hell things are just starting to get warmed up!

Google Maps says it's a bit of a haul for you to Ducpond, 170 miles:
Forest, VA to Duc Pond Motosports - Google Maps

But I know they do have a Diavel demo with the Termi kit. Chad took me out for a demo ride a couple months ago. They are looking to sell the demo Diavel soon too. Might be worth calling Ducpond and asking about a demo ride, make a saturday of it to go try it out!

Best of luck with the Duc hunt!

If he can't ride a VFR with Helibars on it, the ST3/4 is certainly not going to work either.
