Cool Chick Magnet?

Before you flame me, I am seriously thinking of buying a new bike, but plan on keeping my current girl, so I am mostly asking out of curiousity.

Do you think Ducati's really deserve the reputation they have of being chick magnets?

I know there are exceptions, however most girls (and many guys without bikes) can't tell the difference between the engine in a 1198, a Shovelhead and a lawn tractor. Anything with 2 wheels is just "a motorcycle" (or worse, "a Harley", "a Chopper", etc regardless of make or model).

Some girls are attracted to guys with bikes, but more avoid them. Girls who will ride are generally scared, cramped and uncomfortable and complain a lot (earplugs and full face helmets help). They complain you spend too much time working on the bike and too much time riding the bike. I know so many guys who gave up their bike because of a girl. In my experience, girls and motorcycles don't mix, and brand or model doesn't help.

If you do think Ducati's are more of a "chick magnet" than cheap Jap bikes, do you think it applies to specific lines (Superbikes and Monsters) or everything with the brand (ST2s, Multistradas, etc)?

I'd say nice looking motorcycles, in general, are "conversation starters" maybe.

I've had plenty of women comment on how pretty my bike is, and as long as I don't take off the full face helmet and keep the tummy sucked in nice and tight, the conversation can last a pretty long time!

If she complains, dump her and keep the Ducati. She's obviously not your type.

Are there any female Ducati enthusiasts on this forum?

Why do you think I initiated the dark face shield rule for members of the ST clubhouse?

Yes. The ones who are attracted to the bike, are the ones you want, so there's a built in qualifying feature that comes with that chick magnet placed in a secret spot deep in the machinery of all Ducati motorcycles by Fabio before they leave the plant, at no additonal cost. Even an old bald guy like me has sexy young girls come up to him and say, "Nice bike!" At times I have to seriously restrain myself from replying, "Nice a$$."

However, I have found most women I actually date prefer my old, slow, stodgy black BMW to my Ducati. They're a little more, ahem, mature than the girls who comment on my "red bike."

Mankind has decoded the human genome. The female mind, not so much. To the ladies in the forum, this is not a dig. On the contrary, a mere acceptance of your mysterious and so much more sophisticated thought process. My wife LOVES bikes. Doesn't understand, nor does she care as to the difference between a cylinder and a brake pad, but can appreciate the lines, the sound and the "style" of a Harley as well as those of a 999R. My monster...she could care less about. My cb 350, the same. My 999R got a "that's friggin HOT" when I first brought it home. She gives me the "grow up!" look when I go for a spin first thing Saturday mornings, but then I overhear her brag to her girlfriends both about me being into bikes and the bikes I like. She'll seldom ride with me "I am a mom it's too irresponsible". BUT when she does, she refuses to wear a helmet, and she is down right giddy for the rest of the day.

So, are they chick magnets? Perhaps ducky996 or the other members of the female persuasion can give us a little deeper insight into their "psyche" when it comes to Bikes, Dudes, and Dudes on bikes.

my girl put a ring on my finger the second day i brought my GT1000 home. we went for a ride out to lunch came back to the bike and this girl walked up and started hitting on me

after that she was like "i have something for you..."

the best i must say is the couples that walk up with the boyfriend crouched down on one knee staring at the engine getting as much in as he could in the few seconds the girlfriend will allow him to be there while she standing next to him is just all smiles towards me asking me if "so does the bike feel sturdy between your legs?".. and "do you live around here?" he whisked her away real fast...

(true story)

yes.. they are chick magnets.. well... sportclassics for that matter...
