Back in the Ducati fold

I used to own a Sport Classic back in '08 and didn't keep it long, mainly due to the ergos. However, I've always loved the sound and styling of a Ducati and dreamed of one day owning an 848. Well the dream sort of came true last weekend.

I've been looking to downsize from a BMW K1300S and get something that I could use on weekend rides and the occasional track day. I looked around at several Japanese 600's and while economically advatageous and fine bikes in their own regard, they just didn't elicit any emotion out of me. I inquired about a Triumph Daytona 675 and was about to pull the trigger when I found an '07 1098 at a local dealer. I made an inquiry and rode out to the shop to take it on a test ride. The Duc captured my soul. The sound, the looks, the feel, it all added up. The maintenance cost was a big stumbling block, though.

I discussed the pros and cons with my wife and she said to go for it. Of course, it helps that she rides a Monster 696. We figured that age 51, there's no telling how long I'll be able to handle a sport bike and do track days, so I may as well get what I really like, even if I only have it a few years. Found a buyer for the Beemer, got the loan lined up and took delivery of it last Saturday.

So with that, here it is:

It has a full Termi system on it, Woodcraft rearsets and a Woodcraft clutch cover.

Totally agree with your way of thinking.

Enjoy it,

It may be dirty, but it's hard to wash while riding!

Those aren't chicken strips. That's the residue from the previous owner's track days. She was well-ridden.
