I'll do a pre-dawn ride but understand that my Multi is not accustomed to the roads up there and therefore Fizzy will run away from me...(Translation: I'll be ridding slower than you. )

I don't 'schwing' My bike until long after sun up. Too much dew. The roads can be slick. I just putt-putt around at 35mph enjoying the cool mist. It's awesome. Plus, it's quiet out. It's interesting to listen to My bike at 6000 rpms instead of the normal 13,000.
I'll roll out about 5:30ish and cruise around till the sun comes up. Then I go back to the lodge and there's usually a few folks up and getting ready to go out. Once the sun is up good and drying the roads, I'll take off again. THAT...is when the fun starts.

Alright sounds awesome! Now I just need to make sure to have my internal alarm set as I don't want to wake the other inmates of the Love Shack at 5 am.

FYI - Rock Slide Closes Deals Gap
Rock slide closes all lanes on "The Dragon" | wbir.com
and
Rock slide closes 'The Dragon' in Blount County Knoxville News Sentinel
Blount County authorities say a rock slide has closed all lanes of Hwy. 129, known as "The Dragon."
Crews say they first got the call just before 5 a.m. Friday morning. Police dispatchers say the slide happened near Calderwood Dam near the Powerhouse.
UDATE: s/b open in a week.
But maybe it isn't that bad...hopefully won't impact gathering
TDOT's SmartWay website shows this info:
State Route 115 southbound in Blount County - Incident at NORTH CAROLINA-TENNESSEE STATE LINE / BEGIN HWY-129 / {US-129} reported at 3/16/2012 7:00:00 AM and estimated to be cleared by 3/16/2012 10:00:00 AM (Eastern Time Zone). Northbound and Southbound traffic the Dragon at the 9.5 mile marker is affected with all lanes blocked due to a rock slide.
Further details to follow. Just hope this dies not turn into the same issue we had 2 years ago. Had to come into the Gap from the south side, we were able to run the Gap almost to the lake, but coming in from the south added to hours drive time.
OTOH, there was much less traffic on the Gap proper.

I got up at 0500 this morning and went riding. I watched the grey overcast sky become a brighter overcast grey as the miles rolled by. I thought about how I was getting wetter and wetter as the fog and dew soaked through my cloths. I reveled in the inability to see through my misted visor splatter with all the bugs that had come out to see who was up at this time. I got back to the house and brewed a pot of my awesome coffee and looked at my bike thinking "This is dumb" and went and took a dump.

^ Guys, don't let him fool ya. He says 5:30, so you get up at 5, look out the window and he's out pacing the parking lot. You go take your morning dump and other morning rituals and walk out at 5:20 and he's gone. So the next morning you wake up earlier and the same thing happens. By the third day he is returning when you wake up. He really doesn't want anyone to ride with him, he just wants to showboat and let everyone know how cool he is.
I did manage to catch him one day and it was indeed a great ride.
We had breakfast in Robinsville, and when we returned a few others were ready to go.
Duckman was nowhere to be found

Ok, this years going to be different. I'm not drinking so I can get up for the morning rides. I may even try to make the group photo.
