The story of Angelo
I read a thread where people were discussing the gender of their bikes, and wondered why people named their bikes.. My father, Angelo passed away July 15th. At the time I had a ktm rc8 that I was never happy with. After my dad died, I had the chance to buy my 08 1098s and I did.
My dad had always been my best friend, so I was very low after he died, missing him and wondering what I'd do without him. To clear my mind, I'd hop on my bike, and I felt free. I felt like I could let go of what was on my mind and I felt like I was able to really think. Some rides I had some pretty good conversations with my dad, and on my bike, I really feel like he's watching over me. My dad helped me pay for my first Ducati years ago, and just loved the bike. Every time I looked at my Ducati, I thought of him, so I named it Angelo in honor of my dad. Like my bike, my dad was strong, powerful and fun to be around. I really hope that the bike lives to earn his name, and I'm sure it will.
I just realized that I posted this in the superbike section, a moderator may feel free to move it to general discussion or to wherever it belongs!!

That is a pretty good way of naming a bike.

I'm not much into giving machines names but, yours is the best reason I've heard yet for naming a bike.

Great post! Great name! Sorry to hear about your father, but he still lives in you and it's good to know he's watching over you when you ride!

Sometimes we have to wade through a lot of bog to get to some fresh water and your post was a refreshing pool to be sure. Sorry to hear about your loss but I'm glad you shared your experiences with us. I hope my kids will talk about me like like you have about your dad.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, I am a lucky man to have had such a guy for a dad. I'd like to share my favorite story of him. I grew up in northern Minnesota , where everyone plays hockey. My dad flooded the back yard to make a ice skating rink so I could skate whenever I wanted. My neighbor told him that he was wrecking the lawn. My dad replied "I'm not raising a lawn, I'm raising a son, the grass will grow back later". That pretty much sums up the man.
He died of leukemia, which he was diagnosed with 2 years ago.
