Vale Claudio Castiglioni...

Apparently passed away this morning, age 63 years.

Whilst he will forever be associated with the Cagiva / MV agusta resurrection, he was also instrumental (as head of Ducati) for giving us Tamburini's masterpiece, the 916......and, whilst arguably not as iconic, his time at Ducati also created the Monster range, the biggest selling bike Ducati ever made, and the model that brought them back into profit....

RIP to a very clever and innovative businessman.

IIRC, didn't he sell MV to Harley for millions then buy it back for a buck?

In 1984, Ducati made less than 2,000 bikes and were almost done. CAGIVA rescued the company, introduced the Paso and had Bordi build the 851. The rest was history.

You pick up your F3 yet? One sexy machine and I would love to have one of the ORO versions. Sadly, I would be afraid to ride it.
