Had fun with a Ferrari today

I picked up my ST3s from AMS today and was riding her home. Enjoying my new Pirelli Angel tires and fresh tune up. I stopped at an intersection of a road with 3 lanes each direction. I was in the middle lane when a BMW M5 pulled up to my left and then a Ferrari 458 Italia red on my right.

I really looked it over because it was super nice. The light changed and the BMW took off, I kept even with him (not accelerating particularly fast) and the Ferrari punched it a little more to move ahead. I was just off his left quarter when I heard the V12 start to holler, so I pegged it. I could hear his tires breaking traction at every little bump in the road, but I stayed right with him. Of course we were near 80 in no time so I let off before it got way out of hand on a city street. He kept going for a second before calming down.

Nobody got hurt except maybe his ego. But, for all I know about Ferrari cars, he might have had it on city/cruise mode.

I don't know which sounded better. My DP pipes or his V12.

Anyway, 3 seconds of fun.

I played cat-and-mouse with a neighbor on our commute home last year. He was in his Ferrari 360, and I was on my Hyper. It was great staying with him and sometimes passing him, but anything over 80 mph and he was gone!

I know the feeling, it must have been an awesome experience in the city.

It's an ST3 sleeper!

No one even pretends to 'race' me.

When your bike looks like it dropped out of a MotoGP race the guys with the nice cars just nod and idle away. Either that or while I'm blipping the throttle at a stop to keep my bike from stalling (damn 03 749s' and their stalling issues) the exhaust sounds like it's already going 100mph

Or maybe it's cause it's not yellow. It's the 'faster' color right?

Now there you go. Burning up those new tires before we ever get to Colorado.

Showin' off the bare cords down the center like a stuntah?

I think if the bike has the Ducati logo or name on it, somebody's gonna want to push you. Maybe if not to race but, so you can goose it make to 'em smile.

However, if he's in a Ferrari, he probably already has a D16 at home.

Oh, by the way Rick. The 458 stands for 4.5 liter V8.

Italian V8s don't sound like American or German V8s do they?

.....of that.

There hasn't been a mid-engined V12 Ferrari since the Testarossa (180 degree V).
