Input on Paso 750?
Does anyone have any ownership experiences with this bike? My room mate is thinking of picking one up as a project (he's a BSA guy normally). I'm wondering about problems to look out for etc and also wondering what one in good riding condition should go for.
The one he is looking at has some carb issues but is very cheap - $800 and supposedly in slightly rough physical condition but fairing is good for the most part.

Do those also have the 16" wheels like the 906?
If so, it's pretty hard to find tyres. Something to consider.

Seems like the front tire wouldn't be too much of a problem with all of the 80's and 90's bikes with 16" front rims - probably not gonna find the latest greatest rubber but could still find rubber i would imagine. Looks are definitely not my cup of tea but after looking at the bikes they are growing on me. My room mate pretty much can't ride these days - maybe after another year or two of physical therapy; he just likes having a project or 5 going and was thinking this bike could be an easy resurrection that would be fun to do and maybe make him a few bucks.
I personally am wondering at the horsepower difference between the Paso 750 and the later, wet-clutch 750's, the Paso seems to make quite a bit more power, though less than the F1 motors. What's up with that? I'm guessing that it has more relation to the F1 motor than the 750ss/monster motors?

Fine if he just wants a project, however chances of making money are very small.
Nobody wants them cause of the tires problem.

paso
Tires are not a problem as much as they were. The magic tires from Michelin went out of production 5 years ago, but owners are finding plenty of other choices, and they work better than the old tires.
The carb can also be tuned to work lovely. Lots of information at DucatiPaso.org
Some very knowledgeable and addict owners there.
$800 is the right price.
HP is about 70 - 75. More than the later 750s. Great fun bike, and nothing else looks like it.
Highly recommend it, especially if you like to tinker. After all, its a 20 year old italian bike.
Cheers,

Thanks for the input. The deal didn't work out for him anyway. Looks like he is possibly picking up a Norton 750 Commando and a BSA Gold Star now however I won't mind seeing those two around the garage.
