tried to shoot meteors and mostly failed

so instead played around with other long exposure shots. got a few I liked.

ISO was set too high, and many are over exposed, but generally pretty cool. I need to play with long exposures more to get better at this.

and of course the ONE Meteor I caught all night - I was shooting the plane landing but look up and to the right:


then there is this one of a cloud that my kids felt looked like a night fury swooping past - then again they just saw how to train your dragon again this week.

Would it help if you can get out away from the city lights? When I have been on hunting trips in the middle of nowhere, I am amzed at how many stars are visible once you gat away from the competing lights of the metro areas.

I actually am pretty far away from the city lights. except the one town I was shooting at with the planes landing.

shooting straight up worked out pretty well. the 30 second exposure and high ISO were, I think, a little too much though.
