Anyone here use one of those bike mounted video cameras

I have an st3 and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to where to mount it and how they fair with shaking and the like. And also if any cameras are better than others.

The camera's actually do very well on bikes, Ducati's and all. I have a Sony digital camera that just screws onto a suction mount right onto my tank. Does a great job.

But I have a lot of friends with the Go-Pro and Go-Pro Wide. GREAT camera and gives awesome video. I'll probably pick one up when my Sony eventually dies out.

Personally, I like the camera mounted on the tank, so it shows the dash and the tilt of the bike. Also, sometimes mounted on the side fairing as well. I hate guys that mount it to the helmet, you can't really see anything or get that 'rollercoaster' type viewing.

I have seen gopro cameras in my local dealer and think they may be my choice.

Here are some still photos taken with the GoPro HD Wide mounted on the front of my ST3. The image quality is quite good. The reflections you see in some of the photos is not the fault of the camera. I have it mounted behind the windscreen so depending on the light I do get some glare. Video quality is also outstanding for such a simple little box.

Here's a link to a video shot with it.

I mounted a Go Pro wide on the fuel filler, in front of the cap (I have an aftermarket quick release filler). The video takes in image slightly wider than the ends of the handlebars and the top of the instruments just blocks out the horizon straight ahead. Ideally I'd mount the camera three inches or so further forward and a couple of inches higher but that'd mean sticking it onto the tank itself - a custom mount would be a better solution for my bike. ST3S I think has a plastic bit at the front of the fuel tank and if that's high up enough, would probably make a good mounting point for a Go Pro.
