Canon 7D
Yesterday I bought a Canon 7D at a digital photo expo in Lynnwood put on by Kenmore Camera. The 800mm Canon telephoto on display was also tempting, but I think my wife would be upset to see a $12,000 withdrawal from savings when she returns from Europe on Saturday.
I bought the 7D for photographing birds from a static location. My game plan is to attach my 100-400 zoom to the 7D and mount it on the tripod. I will attach the 55-250 zoom to the Rebel XSi that I bought last year and keep it around my neck for "grab" shots, such as a hawk flying overhead or behind me.
Once I get riding again, I'll take the Rebel with the 18-55 zoom along for "trip" shots.

Nice purchase! The 7D looks like a nice 1.6 crop alternative to the 1 series Canons in IQ and AF speed. Let us know how you like it.
Much chatter on the photo boards regarding the 7D right now.

So far so good. I really like the way you can bring up all the settings on one screen by use of the "Q" button. It makes it easy to set ISO, aperature, shutter speed, etc.

Nice purchase Bill, that is a great camera. I am liking the specs on the new 1D Mark IV too.

Yeah me too, well except that $4999.00 spec! I just bought a used MKIII. I'll have to suffer along with that until the MKV is released and I can find a used MKIV .
