MotoGP 2009 Laguna Seca

OK I had front row seats again for Laguna Seca MotoGP Round 8 so here are a few photos from the weekend. I will most likely add more in the future.

After having back surgery just 6 months ago, it wasn't as easy getting around with all my gear so I have less variety of shots this year.... Anyways, enjoy.

Some good'uns there for sure Bevel. You even managed to snap a rare Pedbot smile.

Class work as always Steve, even if you were in pain, it doesn't show in your work. Any chance you got a front shot of Bostrom with helmet in view? Keep 'em coming, good man!

With as many photos as you take in a given race, how in the world do you keep track of them all? I'm seeing the labels of each photo, and if I were to take 50 photos in a day, I would forget where half of them came from. Very nice shots Steve, thanks for sharing your talent.

thanks dan

first off, i know the track like the back of my hand after i don;t know how many track days and I used to work for keith code at laguna as well. I can pretty much tell each corner in a shot in a couple seconds at most....

as far as keeping track of photos etc, my pal and photography mentor gary rather showed me his secret....... shhhhhhhhh don;t tell anyone.

before a specific track session, he takes a photo of a card that says "1" or "2" or "3" etc and he writes what the 1 means [say - MotoGP qualifiying session saturday" on his notebook. All the photos are numbered etc.......

As I make my way around the track each day, I shoot forwards, backwards, across etc etc so it is easy to see exactly which corner is in each shot.

Thanks for the tip, that's kinda how I walk so I remember how to get back: forward/back/sidestep/stumble/forward. Then when I drink and walk, I know what I'm doing.

Thanks for the Bostrom shot as well. I was curious because during the race on Sunday, I noticed he had a different helmet. It was Black with some Gold/Bronze colored graphics (as shown in your first posted set), compared to the Red/White/Blue one in your second posted photo set. I've been looking for reference of the Black helmet, but can't find anything other than his Red Bull versions and the fully Gold/bronze version.
