Awoke to -17 here this morning. Wind yesterday was steady around 30 mph out of the north gusting to 45 with light flurries. Windchill factor -35 or so. At least it's only another couple of months and we start going in the right direction again. Wish I was back in L.A....I'd be riding today

I saw on the news last night that you guys were gonna get the low temp/high winds thing last night. Unreal! I can't imagine that kind of cold.
Ya know, I don't really mind the winter lay-up thing. It gets me off the bike and I get into other things for a few months (photography, guitars...).
I lived in Phoenix for many years, where of course you can ride year round, but ya know, riding in 115 heat is not my idea of a good time, and sometimes I need a break from bikes, so I can get back on with a renewed enthusiasm and perspective.
Don't quote me on any of this in, say, late March, ok?

Ha...no worries I won't quote you but yeah..in a way it is good to get away from them for a bit. I've turned the guestroom into my winter workshop and will be catching up on all those little maintenance items I never want to take time for during riding season. Keeps me somewhat connected. Good time to order parts for the bikes and fine tune the wish lists...lets me look forward to getting back out in the garage come spring and tinkering again. Didn't even go out yesterday. Just holed up by the fireplace with a good bottle of red.
Was through Phoenix on the Harley last June when I got laid off and man your right...115 is too extreme. Ran from L.A. to Globe via Palm Springs, Blythe, Quartzite, Buckeye etc and drank five quarts of water without ever takin a leak ! High today around -2 and down to about -20 tonight but looks like the wind has laid down and the sun is out. Cabin fever time...hang in there man !

Three inches of snow fell last night and the lows are supposed to be in the mid-high teens for the next few nights. Here are some photos I took just up Sunset Ave. from Rory's after I returned home from the big motorcycle show in Seattle.
If only you were still here, Chuck..........

This morning's temperature. Not in your league, Chuck, but it is the coldest it has gotten around here in 18 years.

We awoke to -36 degrees C (-45 C if you allow for the windchill). But at least the sun is shining

Now there's an optimistic outlook. We had the sun out today too and no wind. Saw -6 for the high today which seemed not so bad after around -22 this morning.

Chuck, bring the KTM down here and hang for a bit. It was +38F today. I bitched about it, but it'd be like summertime to you.
