new toy

recently through the wonder of ebay picked up a s/h Fuji S3 Pro dslr in really good condition and a Nikon lens for about $700(Australian, new i think they were about $2k) from a geeky pov I'm interested in the Fuji Super CCR way of doing things and ad the price was right

still reading throught the manual and got a lot to learn still , but recently took a couple of happy snaps. Weather and time permitting try and get some better ones happening.....

molly the wonder cat who's always an (un)willing model

and today a guy came over with his bobbed kwaka VN800 - alas could have down with better weather and more sun and the piccies dont seem to responded too well to be resized down to 800x ???

Nice cat pics. Was it all done with natural light?

Cool choice. I remember when that camera came out. I was thinking, in theory at least, that sensor would closely emulate the dynamic range of film.

Have you had a chance to really shoot with it and compare?

still mucking around with and still reading the manual

no touchups

little bit to get colour sorted

little bit of lightening-up

this one of the film simulations modes (bright one) untouched

the less bright fim simulation - untouched

molly throught the flywire

i'm actually quite proud of this one - bit of colouring and contrast

a bit of creative cropping- untouched

taken in perth city at a camera shot, trying a slightly faster zoom lens than the one i've got at the moment (untouched)

The pictures of Molly should be on the wall at your house for sure. You never mentioned which Nikon lense you had.

thanks, im still at the hit n miss point, 1 photo wil turn out good and another wont - practice pratice i guess.

ooops lens, when i got the S3 , i had to get a lens to suit, so quickly raided ebay.au and scored a Nikon 18-70mm 1:3.5 - 4.5 which all these were taken with except the cars one which got taken with similar Nikon lens except i think it was 2.8 - 4, from memory.

but i had a win last night, went to a pro photographer who was selling off my gear to make way for more gear, ended up getting a Sigma f2.8 24-70mm (bloody heavy thing) and a Nikkor f1.4 50mm lens for a very good price, so some more lenses to play with it

taken at the guys house, his backyard - (24-70 lens) no flash and iso400 -original

cropped (got rid of the lightbulb..ooops) and touched up abit

50mm lens - iso1600 oops meant to switch it back to 100 - untouched

same as above including iso
