Another shot from our second Winter...

The temps are heading north already so all this particular beauty will be soon gone. But hey!, Then comes Spring!

Beautiful shot. Thanks for posting.

Do you get the Northern Lights during the winter?

So, today it was cold as heck, about 60, and sunny, but the wind was really blowing. The leaves are changing but compared to up north they suck. Nothing here to see, move along.

Too cold to ride @60???
I just took a window of opportunity in the weather @34 to bring my wife's bike to the shop for a Honda recall.
We have to talk about adding a few more peppers in your chilli.

Very rarely, and not with anywhere near the splendor seen further north. More a flicker.

A good friend of mine lives in Alaska and he regularly posts thrilling NL photos. Real wowsers!

This Winter seems to want to pass slowly. Yet more snow is forecast for later in the week. But, oh, who can complain when the days start like this!

That's an award winning shot.
Notwithstanding, I want this winter to end. I have a few two-wheeled friends in the garage that require some attention.

We have two days of cold (mid to high twenties today) then Spring warmth is expected.

No, I will not miss the snow, for while my personal riding season is over due to health issues (what a lovely and long season it was!) I still enjoy the back roads in a `77 124 Spider and long walks about my property and beyond.

That said, the beauty continues.

This morning's early light...

Don, do you have an icky mud season while the snow is melting and before the ground dries out?

Indeed we do!

Our "driveway" -- actually a 1/5th mile motor trail through a wooded area -- is (or, increasingly, was) covered in crushed stone. Several years of winter plowing has thinned that out quite a bit, and in some areas, virtually removed it. To that add almost daily UPS-type truck deliveries and that roadway is for a short time quite a mess.

We have a huge amount of crushed stone available -- it is a natural, glacier-formed, underlayment to the elevated area our house is built on -- but I'll need help to spread it out and compress it. (Ah, the joys of age!). So for now... oh, yes. Mud. Mud. Mud. Mud. Mud. For a good week or so.

Then come the black flies! (typically for two weeks.) After that comes genuine, beautiful, Spring.
